The patient journey, in every way, at Mearns Chiropractic should be seamless and straight-forward:

It begins with making an appointment. This can be done in one of two ways:

Click on the “Book Appointment” button on the website or;

Call (0141) 473-2055

If you book your appoinment through the website, you will be required to pay for that appoinment at that time. If you need or decide to cancel, provided it is before 48 hours before your appointment, you will receive a full refund. Cancellation within 48 hours will incur full payment.

If you book your appointment via the telephone, payment will be requested via an email or text link. Payment needs to be made more than 48 hours before your appoinment, otherwise your appointment may be cancelled.

The next step is to fill out your forms before your appointment. This can be done via email link or by coming into the clinic 15 minutes before your appointment.

Coming to your appointment:

The Mearns Castle Golf Academy has on-site parking. There are also bus stops next to and across from the Golf Clubhouse. Buses 395, 205, and 201 stop at the Golf Academy, depending on which direction you are coming from.

Please come to the Clubhouse reception to get directions to the clinic. The clinic is in the Golf clubhouse.

Please wear loose-fitting clothes (please no skirts nor dresses). If you have a knee or hip issue, please bring a pair of shorts with you. You will be able to change into your shorts in the clinic.

Please make yourself comfortable in the clinic recption room. If you are needing to fill out your pre-appointment form, there will be a clipboard in reception with the forms that need to be filled out. Please do so and bring the forms and clipboard with you into the treatment room.

The New Patient Experience – the initial appointment lasting up to one hour:

Once you are with your Chiropractor, she will review your pre-appoinment form with you. If you are happy to continue, she will then take a patient history, which will include:

Medical history

Medication and suppliment review

Lifestyle review

Treatment history

Complaint history (the reason(s) why you have come to the clinic)

Next, if it is appropriate and if you are happy to continue, you Chiropractor will undertake a physical examination, which will include: General physical screening (such as posture, gait, etc.) Specific Orthopaedic, Neurological and Chiropractic tests relating to your complaint.

Then, your Chiropractor will: Give you a summary of the findings and relevant history to give you a Diagnosis, Differential Diagnosis (if appropriate), Prognosis and treatment plan. Or Explain that further information is required and what the process is for getting that further information.

For example, refer you for x-rays or blood tests Or Explain why Chiropractic treatment isn’t appropriate at this time and where you are going to be signposted to et fruther help for your complaint.

If Chiropractic treatment is appropriate and your Chiropractor has recommended treatment, then she will ask if you want to proceed with treatment. If you do, then your Chiropractor will ask you to read and sign a Consent to Treatment. Once signed, your Chiropractor will explain the treatment techniques to be used and how they will help with your issues.

Treatment is then given. You will then be given after-treatment advice and what you are requested to do at home to help with your complaint.

Then another appointment is arranged. Subsequent visits may include more or different treatment, along with, when appropriate, home stretches and exercises.

At regular intervals, Progress Checks will be arranged. A Progress Check is when you and your Chiropractor discuss any improvement of your complaint, a re-examination of any positive Orthopaedic, Neurological or Chiropractic tests and a joint discussion of any suggested changes to your Treatment Plan
